Overview
This table summarizes the components of each layer and shows the
applicable Request for Comments (RFC) for each component.
Layer Component Name Description Specification
Internet IP - Internet Protocol The lowest level protocol by which data are sent
from one computer to another on the Internet.

A message control and error-reporting protocol
between IP devices on a network.

that reliably delivers data.
